This weeks show on INSIDE THE WRITER’S CAFÉ features interviews with:

SEDUCE ME by Robyn DeHart and DRAGONS PREFER BLONDS by Candace Havens

In SEDUCE ME, Fielding Grey unwittingly becomes involved with a mysterious group of millionaires, an unscrupulous antiquities collector, and the irresistible Esme Worthington. All of them have the same goal, to possess the legendary Pandora’s Box. Action, intrigue, and a life-threatening curse are all part of this wonderful historic romance novel. The reader will not be disappointed because hot sparks fly between Fielding and the intelligent, attractive Ms. Worthington.

Review: I like romance novels. They are such a wonderful way to escape and use the imagination. This one is particularly well done. I also like English mysteries. This novel incorporates all of my favorite things: an intriguing, well-written story, set in England, interesting characters, and lots of action. I really enjoyed myself and I think you will too. What do you think

In DRAGONS PREFER BLONDS, Alex Caruthers knows it’s time to kick some serious dragon booty when she uncovers a plot among the dragons to help evil take over the world. To make matters worse, Ginjin, the dragon warrior who has tried to kill Alex several times, has just chosen her as his mate. Life is always interesting for the Caruthers sisters, Guardians of the Earth.

Review: This novel is pure fantasy and a really enjoyable story. The Caruthers sisters are "Guardians of the Earth." They are all beautiful, successful, strong female characters who find their lives in jeopardy from all kinds of evil supernatural creatures and a few human villains as well. These novels are fun. I like the series and look forward to the next one! What do you think?

365 EXCUSE ME ...: Daily Inspirations That Empower and Inspire
by Mina Parker

This book is perfect for the chaos we find in our world and in ourselves. If you're in trouble financially or unemployed or just worried about your future, the ideas in this small book will help.

The book is based on the work of Lynn Grabhorn in EXCUSE ME YOUR LIFE IS WAITING. There are 365 messages in the book, as you might have guessed from the title. Each message is short and the bottom line is quite simple. Stop focusing your thinking on what you don't want to happen or what you want to avoid and start focusing your thinking on the more optimistic, positive things that you do want to happen.

It sounds simple enough, but many of us find ourselves feeding our fear by constantly looking at the negative. The book isn't unrealistic in its goal of getting us to think more optimistically. As a matter of fact, many of the messages it contains are about taking action and helping things happen through those actions. Just sitting around wishing won't get it done, you have to take charge.

I like the fact that I can open this small book anywhere and read an inspirational message to help start out my day on an optimistic, positive note. What do you think?

LET'S GET REAL OR LET'S NOT PLAY: Transforming the Buyer/Seller Relationship
by Mahan Khalsa and Randy Illig

It seems that every day there is some new story about regular people, like you and me, being taken advantage of or losing their money or their home. In this time of economic chaos, it's hard to trust anyone. Too often, selling and buying are both based on fear. Buyers and sellers end up working against one another.

Doing business is no longer about just about getting someone to buy. This book advocates that salespeople focus on their client helping them reduce costs, increase revenues, and improve not only productivity but also quality and customer satisfaction. When this happens, both buyer and seller win.

The book reveals the tried and true skills and practices developed by the FranklinCovey Sales Performance Group and applies by their sales people around the world. Above all, the reader will learn the power of "getting real" which means being authentic, saying exactly what you mean and acting on your values.

I found the ideas in this book refreshing. It seems to me the way business should be done. What do you think?

THE PENNY PINCHER'S CLUB

Kat Griffiths is a shopaholic. She loves shopping and buying. Her husband, Griff, does not love her shopping and buying. Hence, she tries to hide things, he finds out and they fight about it.

One day she accidentally discovers two Mint Tingle Trojan condom wrappers in her husbands pants pocket. She also finds his secret bank account and questionable e-mails he is exchanging with his attractive research assistant. Kat has seen these signs before in one of her friends marriages and it can only mean one thing, Griffs is going to divorce her.

Shaken, head-over-heels in debt and without a clue how to save money, Kat finds herself in full panic mode. She joins an eclectic group of savers called the Penny Pinchers Club who meet at the local library. Soon, she finds herself obsessed with saving and doing crazy things she can't believe she is doing, like pumping gas at dawn, dumpster diving for food, and clipping coupons. Just as she is at her craziest, an old flame reappears who is so handsome and so rich, it almost makes divorce seem appealing. Can Kat's marriage be saved? Will she run away with her old flame? Has Griff made a terrible mistake?

I really enjoyed the novel because it's funny and I can identify with Kat. No, I don't think my husband is having an affair. I am a shopaholic too. It's truly "retain therapy." The book is funny but there are also some serious messages about consumerism. Pages 289-290 are tips from the Penny Pinchers Club. What fun. What do you think?

HOW TO BUY A LOVE OF READING
by Tanya Egan Gibson

Carley Wells is an oddball, overweight teenager who believes words, the SAT, and her English teacher, Mr. Nagel, are her worst enemies. Nagel reports to Carley's parents that she has answered the question "What is your favorite book?" with "Never met one I liked." Her parents make a decision to "fix" what Nagel calls her "intellectual impoverishment" by commissioning a book to be written just for her--one she will love. They decide to, quite literally, to buy her a love of reading.

Impossible as it is for Carley to imagine loving books, she is in love with a young man who cares about books and writing more than anything, except maybe a good bottle of scotch. Hunter Cay is Fox Glen's resident golden boy and oddly enough, Carley Wells best friend. He has been acting strangely distant lately and seems to be set on drowning himself in booze and Vicodin.

To the outsider, Carley's world is one of wealth and privilege, but the sordid underbelly of the fictional Fox Glen is quite another matter. Hunter and Carley's relationship may be the centerpiece of the novel, but the blatant, sometimes viscious actions of the other characters in the novel, resonate loudly with each character's rise and fall.

This is a complex, well-written novel. Quotes from various works of F. Scott Fitzgerald are used at the beginning of each chapter. I couldn't escape the feeling I was watching Gatsby in Hunter Cay. This novel will leave the reader thinking. What do you think?

MANAGE YOUR TIME TO REDUCE YOUR STRESS: A Handbook For The Overworked, Overscheduled, and Overwhelmed

This book has eight chapters of no-nonsense advice, strategies and goal setting. I like it because it is simple to read and practical to use.

Stress is in the mind of each one of us. It is not a single event or situation, but how we interpret the event or the situation. An event that is stress producing for you, may be enjoyable for me. It's all a matter of how you look at it.

Emmett includes the following three questions we should ask ourselves regularly, just to take our stress temperature:
1. Do I work long hours because I'm passionate about my work or because I am afraid not to?
2. Right now, is my work exhausting or exhilarating?
3. Do I have some source of joy in my life?

"Burnout often happens when your stress, work, or frustration is greater than the reward, success, or appreciation you receive." Emmett says.

This book is filled with ideas that work, that's why I like it. What do you think?

If you have always dreamed of being your own boss, this book offers you a blueprint for turning your ideas and aspirations into powerful, profitable business success.
